Poe Inspired Tag by Gemma

Hi All

I made a tag based (very loosely) on a Poem by Edger Allen Poe called The Raven. The quote I have taken from the Poems is "Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing".

I used a giant manilla tag, for this piece. I painted over the whole tag with white, black and paynes grey acrylic. Adding more white paint to the centre and more black and paynes grey paint to the edges. I then put some card through a Sizzix Frameworks die and painted it black. While that was drying I looked in the scrap paper box for some suitable scraps which I scrapped some Gesso over before glueing into place behind the die cut. This was then cut into smaller sections and glued to the tag.

On tissue paper I stamped out the large bird from the Fly stamp set, dabbed some black and orange paint onto the waste from the diecuts and glued that in place. I then stamped around the edges with cogs from the Tick Tock stamp set. On a piece of book paper I stamped the large light bulb and the small bird from the Fly stamp set. Once I had cut that out and glued it in place I went around the edges with a black paint pen, also painting a line to the top of the tag so the light bulb looked as if it was hanging. I then filled the light bulb with glossy accents.

To finish I stamped out the words onto book paper, glued them in place, and edged then in parts with a black pen.

Thank you for reading, all of your comments are really appreciated.

Dragonfly ATCs by Shilpa

Hello Everyone,
Shilpa here,

I've created four ATCs with Artistic stamper Dragonfly stamp and Dylusion paints.

I've taken few photographs while making ...

I attached old book page, tissue paper and  artistic stamper stamped butterfly image to the base and applied a coat of white gesso.

For applying colours I used various Dylusion paints

I used many text and texture stamps and archival inks for creating layers.
I also stamped Dragonflies on another white paper and cut them to adhere on ATCs.

Here they are

Have you liked them, do let me know if so...

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Franswar stepper card by Debs

Hi All
Debs here with another project for you, thought I would do a stepper card for you

This card is really easy to make providing you get the dimensions right to start with. I used a piece of Ranger Manilla card for this one which is not a standard UK size but it works the same with an A4 piece of card. Below is photo of the dimensions I used.

The key is to pencil mark of the size of the left hand panel and then work from the top of the card make a mark at 7cm then 14cm, 18cm, 22 and 25cm.

These marks then need to be scored so that the card folds easily. The second fold line needs to go right across the card the others only want to go as far as the pencil line you have done for the side panel.  The pencil line needs to be cut from the first 7cm to fold to the last but not right the way down.

Once this was all done I coloured the card with Distress Inks using Tea Dye, Rusty Hinge and Ground Espresso. I used three colours on the tag as well I used a Tim Holtz stencil for the background on both the tag and the card. On the tag I used two sets of the Time stamps - Time and Keys and Tick Tock and used the cogs to add some extra background. I also used the cogs to stamp onto shrink plastic with Timber Brown Stazon ink cut them out and heated with a heat gun to shrink and make some embellishments which as I had run out of Tim Holtz ones was quite handy as they were the perfect size.  I also stamped Happy Birthday on to a piece of card using Ground Espresso on Rusty Hinge.

I stamped the cogs over the top with Ground Espresso Distress Ink once that was dry I stamped Neil Walkers Franswar Over the top and coloured it in with the same three colours of Distress Ink Pens

As always don't forget we do look forward to seeing your creations

Label by Titbelsoeur

Hello happy labellers !
Let me tell you the way I made this label :

First, I "watercolored" the background with 2 Distress inks, then I stamped words and clock from  Tick Tock A5 in Time with the same inks so that it is in matching shades.

After that, I stamped the dancer and the sentiment from Dance A5© Siuox Jenneys  in Dance with Plum Archival.

I glued it on to a cloth label to strengthen it and highlighted the dancer inside with white Posca and shaded it outside with a red pencil.

Thanks so much for stopping by,
your comments are very much appreciated,
here, on my blog, or on the Artistic Stamper's Facebook page.
I hope that my label did inspire you and that
you will participate in our October challenge
to win some fabulous Artistic Stamper stamps.

Autumn/ HalloweenHouse Tag by Gemma

HI All

I have been inspired by all the great Autumn/ Halloween art and decorations I keep seeing everywhere, and some of those things have inspired me to make this tag.

I smeared my some of my darker Distress Inks, Weathered Wood, Hickory Smoke and Black Soot, after spraying it with some water I dragged a Large Manilla Tag through the ink, drying it in-between layers until I was happy with the coverage. Once dry I stamped over the top using a Calligraphy Mat ( I think it was number 4) and white paint.

I then cut out a tree from brown card stock and some grass from a small strip of green paper. I edged the tree with Black Soot. Then out came the box (that I am sure we all have) that contains all the mop up papers and extra pulls from the Gelli plate. From some of these I created the house. On the house I stamped with square wire to represent bricks, and lace on the roof.

After all that was glued on, windows included. I die cut some leaves from more scraps and cut a tag from a small scrap run through a brick embossing folder. I then edged the tag with distress ink, and stamped boo with the Decay alphabet. I stamped the leaves with a Grid stamp, for added interest and glued them into place.

All comments, and challenge entries are really appreciated, so please join in.
Thank you for reading

Gibson Girl Triptych

Hello Everyone,
Shilpa here

Today,I would like to share with you Triptych.

I've used Artistic stamper stamps- Gibson Girls, botanical plate1,2

Here are close up views of each panel.

For the background, first I applied distress paints dusty concord, vintage photo and milled lavender.
when it dried, I applied DecoArt crackle glaze randomly on the surface, kept it to dry overnight, which resulted into beautiful crackle texture. To highlight it, I applied little bit of white acrylic paint. Next I stamped text, texture and flowers with archival inks.
Butterflies are stamped, cut and adhered, I've added small lavender pearls on them.

I love all Gibson girls stamps by Artistic Stamper. This image is new in my collection. I stamped her with Ranger jet black archival ink and coloured with distress inks.

Hope you liked my triptych and got inspired!

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Tick Tock Card by Debs

Hi all

Debs here with my latest piece

For todays piece I made a card with a matching tag.  I used Ranger Distress Paints in Ground Espresso, Antique Linen, Frayed Burlap, Walnut Stain, Burnished Brass, Tea Dye, Gathered Twigs and Old Paper, and applied them with a brayer on Kraft Glassine, using different layers of paint, then stamped images using the same paint. I used Tick Tock A5 and Time and Keys Plates with using the same colours.  This technique actually is really easy and uses very little paint. You start off with one colour usually a dark one and then just add different colours using on a little amount each time, you will eventually cover the page but thats not the idea at the start and work from the outside in with the brayer using light rolls it makes a great background!

The tag was done in exactly the same colours and using the same stamps.  I stamped the fob watch from the Time and Keys plate onto card added some distress ink and then popped some glossy accents over the top.  The backing of the watch was done UTEE in a melt pot.  I wanted to create a case for the watch so I stamped the image into the utee which then enabled me to put the watch into place  the little bits of UTEE were just little bits that had dropped off as i was pouring the UTEE i just happened to like the look of them on the tag.  Live in the moment metal embellishment was added to another bit or poured UTEE.

In the top corner i added some texture with some clear texture paste and some fibres through the top and painted the edge of the card with tea dye paint.

You can just see the texture in the corner here

The glossy accents on the  watch not quite sure how the colour changed here.

Thanks for popping in and don't forget to upload your entry into the challenge, I do enjoy seeing them all

I've created small card size art piece with autumn colors.  For background colors I've used distress paints and inks. Next to that I stamped with The Artistic Stamper calligraphy mat and swirls stamp set. Clock, bird and leaves are stamped separately with distress inks and cut them out to adhere on the background.
